January 2025 Transits

Happy New Year (sort of, we all know it’s in the Spring)!

Below you’ll find the new Astro Calendar followed by some insights into this month’s astrological highlights. For personal horoscopes based on your own birth chart and timing you can book with me here.

1/2 - Venus enters Pisces ruled by Jupiter Rx in Gemini

As the year begins, Venus enters Pisces where it finds its exaltation. Venus, the planet of attraction, aesthetic, harmony, and pleasure, expresses its influence in Pisces with openness, compassion, and a sense of possibility. Pisces is where Venus gets to truly express the extent of her rulership so it makes a great time for enjoying the magic of what keeps us connected, and hungry for the extent of life's desires. If you have Pisces placements or are under prominent Venus rulership, you may find this transit to bring about some ease, attraction, unification or reconciliation to the house it governs in your nativity.

1/6 - Mars leaves Leo and enters Cancer

Shortly after, Mars retrogrades into Cancer revisiting themes and issues from earlier in the year related to the house it governs in your chart(s). It's worth noting that Mars has its fall in Cancer which can result in more resourceful yet indirect expressions of energy, actions, and conflict. Being retrograde adds a slower, more monotonous tone to Mars but given Mars gains some dignity in water signs, it remains a good asset for finding creative solutions to any pressing challenges. Now that it's out of Leo, those with placements there may experience some downtime but if you have Cancer placements or prominent Mars rulership, this transit could highlight more demanding circumstances.

1/8 - Mercury enters Capricorn ruled by Saturn in Pisces

Two days later, Mercury enters Capricorn bringing a different kind of rhythm to the area of your chart ruled by Capricorn. Mercury rules over communication, commerce, transportation, learning, and adaptability among a plethora of things that branch from its processing nature but in Capricorn it emphasizes a more determined, pragmatic, and conservative expression through its influence. Mercury remains without dignity by triplicity here making it challenging for the natural qualities of Mercury but remains active and purposeful in its expression. That being said, if you have Capricorn placements or are under prominent Mercurial rulership, you can expect this transit to bring attention to matters that beg for curiosity, exploration or adaptation to the house it governs in your nativity.

1/13 - Full Moon in Cancer

This Full Moon finds itself in Cancer where she is at home making her influence much more lunar in expression. Although the Moon is separating from a trine to Venus and Saturn, she approaches a conjunction to Mars making her fullness much more restless in nature. As with most Full Moons, emotions may run high and extremes could dominate the atmosphere so I'd proceed with more caution during this time - things can go from 0 to 100 real quick. Either way, try to place your best foot forward and embrace the opportunity to release what no longer serves you. Release is much more prominent this Full Moon!

1/18 - Venus in Pisces conjunct Saturn

Later in the month Venus conjoins Saturn, offering some relief to any challenges Saturn has been causing in Pisces. Venus rulership is also likely to merge with Saturn rulership so looking to the houses each planet rules in the nativity can give you an idea of any other changes in themes at play - as with any other planetary conjunctions. While this alignment can bring some momentary stability it may also feel bittersweet, especially if Pisces is prominent in your chart.

1/19 - Sun enters Aquarius ruled by Saturn in Pisces

The Sun enters Aquarius shortly after, marking the midpoint of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and bringing light/attention and focus to the house Aquarius takes up in the nativity. In general, the Sun finds its detriment in Aquarius making its expression much less centered on the self, its presence or its influence which is why it tends to manifest idealistically, group conscious and with eccentricity.

1/27 - Mercury enters Aquarius ruled by Saturn in Pisces

Later in the month, Mercury joins the Sun in Aquarius further emphasizing the influence of this sign after also having had an opposition with Mars. Mercury gains dignity in Aquarius making its expression much more dynamic and less stressed compared to its time in Capricorn. It also applies a trine to Jupiter in Gemini bonifying its influence right before it approaches the malefic rays of the Sun.

1/28 - North Node leaves Aries

By the end of the month the Lunar Nodes shift sign. The North Node moves into Pisces while the South Node enters Virgo, initiating a new cycle of fated changes for these signs and their placement in the nativity. Meanwhile, those with prominent Aries and Libra placements get to reflect on the disruptive and transformative outcomes of the Node's influence that began in July of 2023.

1/29 - New Moon in Aquarius ruled by Saturn in Pisces

The month concludes with a New Moon in Aquarius, signaling the end of January 2025 and the beginning of a fresh lunar cycle!
